What you will do

The Customs & Trade Operations Team Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the North America (NA) Regional Customs and Trade Operations. This role demands comprehensive knowledge of customs regulations, import/export compliance, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including government agencies. The manager must be capable of working independently, managing multiple priorities, and ensuring timely resolution of issues to support organizational goals.

This role plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating efficient trade operations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to foster collaborative relationships across various departments and external partners:

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and safeguard all NA related customs processes within the organization, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal planning teams to understand lead times for inbound orders and serve as the primary contact for product classification inquiries.
  • Inform internal departments about new and revised customs documentation requirements to facilitate a smooth clearance process.
  • Liaise with customs house brokers to ensure timely customs entry & resolution to exceptions.
  • Communicate Effectively to Maintain open lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders, including FDA officers and service providers, as well as the distribution center network.
  • Assist with post-entry audits and required actions (i.e., PSC), including responding to FDA Notices of Action.
  • Oversee audits and investigations to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions relevant to customs and trade operations.
  • Conduct risk evaluations to support trade compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with logistics departments and global trade compliance teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Act as a lead in supporting global compliance projects and initiatives.
  • Facilitate compliant import transactions for the U.S. and Canada.
  • Help establish business plans and processes to address new regulations affecting imports for the U.S. and Canada.
  • Manage a comprehensive database of product information to support compliance and operational needs.
  • Provide reporting and analysis of import data as required.
  • Development of TC Performance Management and KPI’s for internal partners, suppliers (internal & external), brokers, and carriers/forwarders.
  • Lead and manage a team, providing guidance and support to ensure effective performance.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA and/or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in international trade, export management, logistics, or transport planning.
  • Proven experience interacting with FDA and USDA regulations.
  • Strong focus on achieving results, with a high level of personal accountability.
  • Skilled in balancing urgent and important tasks efficiently through a strong ability to multitask and prioritize workload.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills are essential for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to interpret, summarize, and present relevant data and findings.
  • Meticulous approach to detail with a strong customer focus.
  • Capacity to exercise sound judgment and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to present in front of large groups and key stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to work cross functionally and cross culturally between departments, external providers, and remote teams.
  • Minimum intermediate-level proficiency in Excel

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office, Data Analytics, and Power BI.

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$124,100.00 - $175,200.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
