This position reports into the EHS Site Lead and is based in Cape Town.

What will you do

Support the EHS Site Lead for EHS performance at the site. 

  • Actively participate in defining the EHS system and maintaining it to achieve EHS objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of regulatory compliance plans and continuous improvement projects related to EHS.
  • Participate in the deployment of EHS objectives for the site - auditing, analyzing, documenting, and reporting on their implementation and effectiveness by preparation dashboards, reports & management reviews.
  • Act as the EHS reference for other departments and regulatory bodies.
  • Create, update, and maintain the operating and work instructions for EHS.
  • Continuously update the EHS management system.
  • Participate in the verification of the compliance with EHS regulations and Kenvue standards. Participate in the dissemination and adaptation of mandatory EHS standards.
  • Support management in contact with authorities in EHS relevant areas.
  • Support the EHS Site Lead in identification of business impacts of EHS and changes to regulations.
  • Execute the Regional & Internal Audit program and ensures timely corrective actions are taken when EHS hazards are identified.
  • Collaborate and participate in various EHS committees.
  • Carry out risk assessments.
  • Collaborate to maintain local ISO certifications (and other voluntary certifications, VPP/OHSAS) 
  • Facilitate, implement, plan, and produce material for internal training in EHS, for contractors and fire safety.
  • Develop relationships with other functions (e.g., engineering, facilities) to ensure EHS aspects are considered at the beginning of new/changing operations and to manage aspects of external manufacturers, suppliers and contractor programs.
  • Participate in the analysis of incident and accidents and good-saves (both bodily and environmental) and contribute to the associated action plans.
  • Participate in the definition and execution of CAPA.
  • Seek innovative approaches to drive continuous improvement in safety culture and overall EHS program effectiveness.
  • Organize evacuation exercises and participate in fire risk prevention, including evaluating risks and following up on internal action plans.
  • Participate In the assigned trainings.
  • Boots on the ground. Spend a minimum of 40% of operational time on the shopfloor
  • Implement EHS Inspection Program
  • Execution of all Waste upliftment’s, tracking data and ensure destruction certificates are supplied by service providers.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Environmental Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical field.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in environmental, health, and safety roles with demonstrated technical expertise.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with regulators, management, and site personnel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, to support reporting and presentations.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing diverse EHS programs encompassing air quality, waste management, chemical handling, and industrial hygiene.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities including the development and implementation of global or multi-site environmental strategies.
  • Competency in designing and delivering comprehensive EHS training programs tailored to varied audiences.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Ability to foster and lead communities of practice to enhance environmental and safety competencies across the organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to inspire and influence diverse teams through creative training and awareness campaigns.
