The Manager, R&D Consumer Science leads the design and execution of consumer‑centric research to translate scientific and consumer insights into actionable strategies that enable product innovation and brand growth. This role combines consumer science technical expertise, strategic thinking, and people leadership to drive evidence‑based decision‑making across multiple categories and markets, with a strong focus on India. The Manager is responsible for leading a team(1-2) of Consumer Science subject matter experts, providing day‑to‑day coaching and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
Consumer Learning & Testing Strategy:
Shape and lead consumer learning plans and testing strategies to deliver timely, high quality insights aligned to business and innovation objectives.
Design and execute consumer research that uncovers consumer behavioral, cultural, and sensory insights to guide product development and marketing strategies, with strong regional and India relevance.
Integrate deep consumer research expertise with strong business acumen, ensuring good understanding of business partner needs and delivering impactful, business‑relevant scientific solutions.
Insight Translation& Innovation:
Translate consumer research findings into clear, actionable insights that identify innovation opportunities and influence strategic decisions.
As subject matter expert, partner with R&D, marketing, and CBI teams to define and develop robust claim substantiation, translate complex scientific and consumer data into compelling, consumer centric evidence to support product design, claims and communication.
Human-Centered Methodologies:
Identify and apply human-centered research approaches, providing expertise and guidance to support the development of new products and consumer experiences.
Pioneer and apply advanced research methodologies, including sensory evaluation, consumer testing, and digital tools to strengthen consumer research and digital capabilities
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Build strong, trusted partnerships across regional and global stakeholders to ensure alignment between consumer insights, technical feasibility and business objectives.
Influence cross functional decision-making through scientific expertise, data‑driven recommendations, and evidence‑based perspectives, to enable and deliver meaningful outcomes for consumers
Team Leadership:
Build strategic connections across need states to align business priorities, guide innovation direction, and influence long‑term pipeline and portfolio strategy.
Build and grow deep consumer research expertise by coaching and mentoring team members to elevate expertise and capabilities.
Fostering a culture of curiosity, inclusivity, continuous learning and high performance within the team.
Responsible for effective budget management, ensure robust budget tracking and all spending are met within approved budget plan.
Quality compliance:
Provide oversight and accountability to ensure all research activities comply with industry and company standards.
Drive consistent application of approved research procedures, SOPs, and quality practices across projects and teams. Identify and proactively mitigate compliance risks, support audit and inspection readiness.
External Engagement:

What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree with approximately 8-10 years of industry experience is required, Biology/Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Pharmacology degrees preferred but not mandatory.

Being able to connect cross-functionally to determine testing needs for various projects. These projects can fall under any of our categories (Baby Care, Women’s Health, Skin Health and Beauty, Self Care).
· Previous experience of managing a team of consumer/market researchers in FMCG, Health care, or research agencies.

Desired Qualifications
· Previous experience on consumer/market researchers, and/or claim support and substantiation. FMCG, Health care, or research agencies would be preferred, but open to relevant fields.
· Previous experience on various types of consumer and market research methodologies (i.e. qualitative, quantitative).
· Previous experience on sensory evaluation methods and data interpretation.
