Was Sie tun werden

The Staff Engineer – Governance & Project Portfolio is a senior technical leader responsible for establishing and evolving engineering governance frameworks, ensuring alignment between technical initiatives and business strategy, and overseeing the prioritization and health of the engineering project portfolio. This role influences cross-functional decision-making, drives technical excellence, and provides strategic direction to multiple engineering teams. The position acts as the bridge between project delivery, executive governance, and business strategy, ensuring that all initiatives operate within a robust control environment and that risks, deviations, and performance metrics are systematically managed.


Key Responsibilities 

Engineering Governance
•    Define, evolve, and enforce engineering governance frameworks, including standards, policies, processes, and quality metrics.
•    Ensure compliance with internal engineering practices, architectural guidelines, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations.
•    Lead and support technical reviews, governance councils, and architecture boards.
•    Develop and maintain mechanisms for structured technical decision-making.


Project Portfolio Management
•    Lead the evaluation, prioritization, and selection of engineering initiatives based on impact, risk, cost, resource capacity, and strategic alignment.
•    Maintain transparency of the engineering portfolio through executive dashboards, reports, KPIs, and status reviews.
•    Monitor the lifecycle of critical initiatives, proactively managing risks and supporting teams in resolving technical or organizational blockers.
•    Align technical roadmap, team capacity, and long-term business planning.
Technical Leadership & Strategic Influence
•    Serve as a trusted technical advisor to engineering leadership, program managers, and cross-functional partners.
•    Guide architectural decisions, provide strategic recommendations, and support large-scale technical solutions.
•    Evaluate complex technical trade-offs and drive decisions across teams and domains.
•    Coach and mentor senior engineers to strengthen engineering excellence and governance maturity.
Stakeholder Collaboration
•    Work collaboratively with Financial, PMO, Architecture, Security, Product, Operations, and executive stakeholders.
•    Ensure alignment between business priorities, engineering standards, and technical capacity.
•    Facilitate governance workshops, roadmap discussions, and portfolio review ceremonies.
 Portfolio Reporting & Executive Insights
•    Consolidate and translate project/program performance into executive ready reporting (dashboards, KPIs, heat maps, risk summaries).
•    Enable data driven decision making by analyzing trends, variances, and scenario impacts.
•    Present insights to steering committees, portfolio boards, and senior leadership.


Quality Assurance & Qualificarion
•    Conduct independent project reviews, audits, and health checks to verify alignment with governance standards.
•    Identify control gaps and enforce corrective/preventive actions.
•    Partner with internal/external audit, finance, legal, and risk functions to ensure compliance.
Capability Building & Continuous Improvement
•    Train delivery teams on governance processes, tools, and best practices.
•    Introduce new methodologies, automation, or tooling to improve control efficiency.
•    Promote a culture of delivery discipline, transparency, and value realization.

What we are looking for 


Required Qualifications 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field
•    Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in project development and industrial technologies
•    Solid previous experience in engineering

•    Solid previous experience as people leader
•    Proven experience in engineering governance, process definition, or compliance frameworks. 
•    Strong background in project portfolio management, technical roadmapping, or enterprise program governance. 
•    Knowledge of frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, SAFe, PMI, or Scrum. 
•    Advance/Fluent in English

•    Availability to work 100% onsite in São José dos Campos

Desired Qualifications 
•    Certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, ITIL, TOGAF, or CISM
