The Associate Director Corporate Affairs Malaysia and Singapore will be responsible to develop and implement strategies to shape public policy and stakeholder engagement for the offices in Malaysia and Singapore. The successful candidate will be working in close collaboration with business leaders, cross-functional teams in these markets. This role will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Affairs Metropolitan Asia and APAC Regional Office.
- Establishing, executing, and managing a robust corporate affairs strategy to optimize the impact of stakeholder engagement strategies to enable success and ensure customers have access to our personal health products and solutions.
- Leading strategy execution, drive advocacy engagement and impact at a local/market level through both employee engagement and external stakeholders’ strategies.
- Providing strategic assessments and development of corporate communication plans produced, as well as internal and external stakeholders, with the intent to shape the external environment, engage third parties and ensure business strategy is informed by a strong understanding of external stakeholder expectations, while enhancing trust and reputation of the company.
- Establishing, managing, and executing country horizon-scanning and insights that connect the business with policy trends and opportunities, and informs business strategy.
- Build and amplify content; vet reporter inquiries on topics related to Government Affairs; draft key documents including messaging, speeches and testimony; and review external content including social media posts and provide strategic counsel on key global trends to internal team members.
- Serving on the Country Leadership Teams, contributing to strategic decision making in setting the direction of the business, offering counsel to leadership.
- Embedding external environmental assessments, policy objectives and stakeholder engagement into business unit’s strategic and operating plan development and execution.
- Working with business leaders to identify priority public policy, government affairs, and global public health/consumer access opportunities to maximize value to the business. Proactively identifying opportunities where external affairs initiatives advance business strategy, address issues, strengthen alignment and convey business mission, vision and priorities.
- Ensuring that the business model and commercial objectives are reflected in function’s priorities.
- Proactively providing input and guidance on the development of company strategic and operational plans regarding major external public policy and stakeholder forces, including appropriate business responses.
- Leading a coordinated approach to company trade association memberships, in partnership with commercial leaders, ensuring strong alignment to business objectives and resources, and regularly assessing progress/return on investment.
- Cultivate and nurture building a strong network of key external stakeholders who can support strategic policy objectives.
- Ensure 100% compliance with internal and external policies, laws, and requirements.
What we are looking for:
- Successful candidate will possess at least 10 years of experience in government affairs and public policy in Malaysia and Singapore.
- Political, legislative, and/or public sector experience, combined with meaningful tenure in a large multinational corporation.
- Deep understanding of the external environment and political decision-making process. Skilled judgement on positioning and tone of sensitive and complex issues is essential.
- Strong political grasp with proven track record of effective leadership, including cross-functional leadership of policy strategies and programs to support business objectives and build trust.
- Demonstrated track record of working with and earning the trust and confidence of corporate leaders or governmental or social leaders and serving as a trusted partner/advisor.
- Demonstrate communication and collaboration skills with an ability to manage and influence stakeholders in a matrix environment effectively.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and embrace change in a dynamic, rapidly growing environment.
- A collaborative style: interactive with the courage and conviction to challenge and defend ideas and strategies; ability to offer creative pathways or alternative solutions both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work 1) under pressure, 2) both independently and in a team environment, and 3) with all levels of the organization as well as government officials.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze policy issues and environment, and to communicate policy research and analysis findings to a variety of non-expert audiences both written and orally.
- Experience in creating and managing complex projects.
- Superior oral and written communications skills in English and Malay.

- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
