POSITION OVERVIEW

The Global Distribution and Logistics Quality Sr. Manager is responsible for the end‑to‑end coordination, process optimization, and governance of global distribution and logistics activities to ensure timely, compliant, and cost‑effective delivery of products. Acting as a GPO.

This role acts as a business partner to Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Customer Service, and external logistics service providers, driving compliance and continuous improvement across transportation, warehousing, customs, and distribution networks. The role is an individual contributor with no direct reports, operating in a complex, cross‑functional, global environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead global distribution and logistics strategy execution aligned with business, quality, and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure reliable product availability and on‑time delivery

  • Optimize transportation modes, distribution networks, and logistics costs while maintaining service and compliance

  • Coordinate relationships and performance of third‑party logistics (3PL) providers and freight forwarders

  • Ensure compliance with global trade, customs, GDP/GMP, and internal quality standards

  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, resilience, and scalability of the logistics network

  • Act as logistics subject‑matter expert in cross‑functional projects, product launches, and business initiatives

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Global Logistics Strategy & Network Optimization (30%)

  • Document, deploy, and continuously evolve the global logistics and distribution strategy aligned with business growth and supply chain objectives

  • Lead global network and flow analysis, including distribution footprints, transportation lanes, and regional models, to identify opportunities

  • Sponsor and govern global initiatives to improve service levels, reduce lead times, increase end‑to‑end visibility, and optimize total landed cost

  • Establish global frameworks and governance for capacity planning, risk mitigation, and supply continuity, enabling effective regional execution

2. Third‑Party Logistics (3PL) & Transportation Management (25%)

  • Document global strategy, standards, and selection frameworks for logistics and transportation service providers

  • Establish global KPIs, service level agreements, and performance governance models for 3PL and transportation partners

  • Manage the global supplier performance management model, including cadence, escalation paths, and corrective‑action governance

  • Document global logistics and transportation concepts (air, ocean, road, courier, warehousing) and enable regional execution through policies, playbooks, and best practices

3. Compliance, Quality, & Risk Management (20%)

  • Document and govern global logistics compliance frameworks to ensure adherence to trade regulations, customs requirements, and internal policies

  • Establish global standards and oversight for GDP/GMP‑compliant distribution, including temperature‑controlled and regulated shipments where applicable

  • Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Compliance functions to define audit, inspection, deviation, and corrective‑action governance models

  • Lead global identification and assessment of logistics risks (e.g., geopolitical, capacity, customs, service disruptions) and define mitigation strategies

4. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Business Enablement (15%)

  • Document and lead the global logistics engagement model with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and Commercial functions

  • Provide logistics governance, standards, and decision frameworks to support new product introductions, market expansions, and distribution network changes

  • Act as a global logistics thought partner, influencing enterprise‑level decisions related to demand planning, inventory strategy, and customer fulfillment models

5. Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • Document and oversee global logistics performance metrics, dashboards, and reporting standards (e.g., service, cost, lead time, damage, exceptions)

  • Leverage data and analytics to identify systemic trends, root causes, and continuous‑improvement opportunities across regions

  • Sponsor and guide logistics digitalization initiatives, including system enhancements and visibility solutions, to enable data‑driven decision‑making

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related field

  • Master’s degree will be considered a plus

Experience

  • 13-16+ years of progressive experience in global quality logistics, distribution, or supply chain roles

  • Proven experience managing international transportation and third‑party logistics providers

  • Experience of operating in regulated environments (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or equivalent)

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization without direct authority

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of global trade, customs, incoterms, and transportation modalities

  • Solid knowledge of distribution network design, logistics cost drivers, and service optimization

  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across functions and cultures

  • Ability to influence, lead initiatives, and drive results without direct line management

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures

  • Willingness to travel globally as required (approximately [5–10%], adjustable)

  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and data analytics tools

  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail

  • Fluent English required; additional languages are an advantage
