QC Laboratory Assistant

This position reports to the Quality Control Laboratory Supervisor and is based in Cape Town, South Africa

What You Will Do 

Assist Quality Control Laboratory in preparation or laboratory solutions, performs routine tests (like pH, balance verification, water testing), calibrates equipment, documents results, maintains lab cleanliness, and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, supporting the QC team in stock take and ordering. Sampling of water and raw material when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, label, and process glassware and samples for analysis.
• Testing basic quality control tests on raw materials, in-process items, and finished products where required.
• Performs daily calibration of Analytical Balances and pH meter.
• Prepare reagents and solvents
• Stock takes management of reagents and consumables
• Collects reagents from storage location
• Documentation: Accurately record test data, maintain detailed lab records, and prepare reports for management.
• Lab Maintenance: Keep the lab organized, stocked, clean, and compliant with safety standards.
• Compliance: Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and health/safety protocols.
• Support: Assist the laboratory team, troubleshoot minor issues, and contribute to quality improvement.
• Environment, Health & Safety
• Understand and implement relevant EHS projects and performance expectations.

What We Are Looking For

• Formal Education: Grade 12 minimum
• Pharmaceutical background, knowledge of Quality Control activities, including sampling, stock management
• Specific Experience: At least 2 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical or related industry
