What you will do
The Project Engineer is responsible for providing sophisticated technical support, project development and execution in the areas of design, selection, installation, development, improvement, qualification and validation of manufacturing equipment, processes, systems, and components. The individual provides technical guidance for equipment while collaborating with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, EHS&S, Research and Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, Process Excellence and other affiliated departments to identify and address equipment, process and /or validation needs. Conducts research of innovative solutions for potential applications where there may be little or no precedents.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute engineering projects in alignment with the company's goals and objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and timely delivery
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members
- Conduct research and analysis to identify innovative solutions and best practices
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Continuously improve processes and procedures to optimize project outcomes
- Lead and manage the entire project team from inception through design, construction, start-up, validation, and approval, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, procedures, and revenues.
- Develop and implement process excellence techniques to identify and resolve systematic issues, and track trends to improve efficiency, product yield, and equipment reliability.
- Establish and communicate project and program schedules, objectives, priorities, and targets, and monitor the status of programs and projects, providing technical interpretation and expertise.
- Ensure proper system integration by overseeing the development of the systems integration and systems assurance test plans and procedures, and reviewing test results.
- Research business and technical issues to establish what is being done and where improvements are possible, and advise and correlate short- and long-term tactical engineering plans and programs.
- Ensure collaboration of engineering and technology group across other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with regional partners.
- Ensure application of efficient work practices for core group processes and ensure continued improvement and update of these practices with lessons learned.
- Provide regional guidance on technology and engineering issues to all functional areas.
- Develop yearly business plans and personal objectives that support the overall company goals.
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineer, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Engineering)
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in engineering project management in FMCG/Pharmaceutical environment
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of engineering principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in project management, including control of information flows, managing and controlling budgets, and following up on planning.
- Knowledge and use of GMP principles, and previous experience with engineering products/machine tools.
- Demonstrated success in leading individuals and coordinating team activities in a matrix environment.
- A minimum of a Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge and experience of implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of end-to-end supply chain, and distribution process experience.
- Automation experience, and regulated industry experience.
- A minimum of 2-5 years of (functional and/or people) leadership in a FMCG/Pharmaceutical (supply chain) environment.
- Prior management experience of 2 or more years required.
- Experience in multi-disciplined engineering environment with knowledge of project management, installation, and qualification preferred.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen to understand, and to transfer a selling strategy to address all market customers and channels with a long-term view of the future state of business.
- Proven experience with respect to project evaluation and providing recommendations and ability to influence peers and people at higher levels.
- Effectively resolve competing priorities for the team, and open and accessible leadership style.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications, database information sources and web applications.
- Lean or Six Sigma certification.
