What you will do

We are seeking a passionate and influential Global Packaging Innovation Engineer to join our Global R&D Packaging team. In this role you will be responsible for developing innovative packaging strategies for our Self-Care business which includes iconic brands such as TYLENOL®, MOTRIN®, ZYRTEC®, IMODIUM®, BENADRYL® and ZARBEE’S®. Delivering superior consumer experiences through human centered innovation, creating opportunities that will win new consumers every day.

 

Embracing our Healthy Lives Mission commitment, the Global Packaging Innovation Engineer will be responsible for developing brand portfolio technical glidepaths and guide project teams with future-fit packaging solutions that meet our business objectives while minimizing our environmental impact and driving brand growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Consumer Advocate: be the voice that will translate unmet consumer needs into actionable packaging solutions

• Solution Seeker: research, development and facilitation of idea generation sessions for creating benefit-led packaging concepts.

• Concept Innovator: Explore emerging trends and technologies in packaging, identifying opportunities for benefit-led sustainable innovation.

• Cross-functional Inclusivity: partnered with cross-functional teams to conduct early stage testing of packaging prototypes that elevate value propositions.

• Technical Leadership: Earn trust with science by providing evidence-based direction to business, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high-performing packaging.

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ experience in OTC/Pharma/Device, Cosmetic/Personal Care, Food or related industry is required.  Experience working with OTC/NDA drugs is strongly preferred.

• A minimum of BS degree in Packaging, Engineering or a related Science discipline is required. Advanced degree is preferred

• Working knowledge of packaging materials and technologies, recycled and recyclable content, sustainable packaging practices, the circular economy, lifecycle assessments, sustainability metrics and the impact on the environment

• In-depth knowledge of components/materials and processes used in construction and manufacturing of OTC drug product packaging

• Solid understanding of applicable government regulations for OTC drug product packaging is desirable.

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels of the organization. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
