The Sales Controller is a strategic finance business leader responsible for the management of Channel Profit and Loss (P&L) for the Kenvue ANZ business. This role entails supporting business partners—including Sales, Marketing, Finance and the Leadership Team—to deliver the strategic business plan, drive commercial insights, and identify and implement risk management strategies that shape commercial decisions. The Sales Controller will also manage trade spend effectively and ensure adherence to processes while contributing positively to the broader team in a customer-focused and commercial manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Channel P&L Management:
- Oversee the management and reporting of Channel P&Ls for the business, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver finance requirements across key business processes, such as Integrated Business Planning and financial updates.
- Work on improving channel profitability by collaborating with sales team and category teams on investment and growth opportunities.
Strategic Business Support:
- Partner with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and the Leadership Team to support the execution of the strategic business plan.
- Drive commercial insights and identify risk management strategies to inform and shape commercial decisions for LRFP.
- Forge and lead internal collaboration across the enterprise, leveraging a broad range of perspectives to create effective solutions.
Trade Spend Management:
- Manage and optimise trade spend, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and processes are adhered to.
- Develop a framework for commercial fact-based decision-making that drives both short- and long-term objectives.
- Maintain a strict compliant environment on trade spend accounting and review procedures and amend / update when needed.
- Inform and work with Sales Director on forecasting trade spends and highlight risks.
- Implement and deploy the Trade Spend Mgmt system across functions.
Financial Compliance and Control:
- Maintain a sound understanding of the control environment and contribute to upholding high levels of compliance across financial operations.
- Ensure that all financial practices align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Commercial Acumen and Insights:
- Connect insights from financial data to develop a deep understanding of the franchise and provide reliable financial advice to stakeholders.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and apply strategies and tactics that align with Channel teams to achieve business and financial objectives.
Ad-Hoc Analysis:
- Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses as required to support strategic initiatives or special projects.
- Maintaining SOPs and revisiting desktop procedures. Following qtrly and monthly rhythm for close and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CA, CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial analysis, sales operations, or a similar role, with a focus on consumer business.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Proven experience in managing Channel P&Ls and trade spend effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with financial software and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to work in ambiguous situations and create a structured desirable outcome for the company.
Desired Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of the Australian commercial retail and wholesale landscape, including regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively, with a focus on driving business growth and innovation.
- Experience with forecasting/budgeting/cost department.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proven track record working with multiple stakeholders and defining desired outcomes
