What you will do

The Packager Development Leader provides operational management and leadership for a team of scientific and technical support staff to meet the packaging material and component regional supply chain objectives for the entire LATAM portfolio and network.  

Base Business Support:

The position has direct responsibility for the support of the day-to-day business, CAPA and investigations, troubleshooting, etc. in. This includes collaboration with regional partners to ensure a consistent and robust supply of the existing supply chain.

Regional Execution:

This role partners with internal and external Supply Chain, Quality and R&D representatives in the region to identify, define and execute technical projects including technology transfers, process capability improvements, new products and compliance remediations that impact cost, compliance and customer service.

The role will provide a broad base of knowledge, a multi-functional experience and is a catalyst for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Tech Ops Packaging Development Engineers, assuring the development, validation and maintenance of packaging components, labeling and systems to support Base Business activities, Franchise initiatives, technical transfers, Cost Improvements, New Product Development and quality and compliance projects. Accountable for commitments to projects; provide project oversight/planning and is accountable for results (time and budget commitments).
  • Develop and lead strategic packaging initiatives for all brands to deliver short and long-term goals of the franchises including package development, labeling process, component specifications and validation.
  • Lead package development and life cycle management initiatives, including design requirements, definition of the scope of change, packaging and equipment solution proposals, prior knowledge and knowledge gap assessments, risk assessments, test plans, and test results analysis and conclusions.
  • Be responsible for and/or develop, write, gain multi-functional alignment, and route for approval package development documentation that assembles the above end-to-end project specific information. (Examples of documentation: Package Component Specifications, Package Development Assessment and Plan documents, Packaging Line Trial Protocols and Reports, Package Development Reports, etc.) Lead team members and develop plans for team members to include assignment of project priorities and responsibilities while being accountable for the team’s outcomes.
  • Partner with R&D teams, Quality, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Regulatory with respect to new products, product optimization and tech transfer.
  • Provide support to and influence the packaging equipment selection process for the manufacturing network.
  • Ensure alignment with manufacturing locations to drive standardization, cost saving initiatives, issue resolution, and roll out of new packaging solutions.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports per company policies and procedures.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging, Engineering or a related Science field. Advanced Degree is preferred or formal training in Project or Program Management is highly preferred.
  • More than 10 years’ of progressive experience leading end-to-end packaging management within pharmaceutical and/or consumer goods manufacturing environments.
  • Proven expertise in packaging equipment selection, qualification, line trials, and process validation, with broad exposure to diverse packaging technologies and manufacturing processes.
  • A strong customer-centric mindset, coupled with demonstrated excellence in program and project management, strategic thinking, execution discipline, and accountability within complex organizations.
  • The ability to lead with a proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented approach, supported by exceptional communication skills and influence across all organizational levels.
  • A solid track record of operating effectively in fast-paced, cross-functional environments, partnering closely with R&D, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, and other key functions.
  • Exceptional negotiation capabilities, strong leadership presence, advanced analytical skills, and well-developed business acumen, with the ability to drive alignment and results.
  • Demonstrated experience in defining clear project success criteria, establishing robust governance, and rigorously monitoring execution and outcomes.
  • Extensive experience managing budgets, resources, and high-performing teams, including seasoned professionals and people leaders, while consistently delivering against strategic and operational objectives.
  • Deep understanding of GMP requirements, hygiene practices, and quality management systems applicable to regulated and consumer manufacturing environments.
  • A proactive and visible commitment to Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) leadership, actively supporting and reinforcing safety programs and a strong safety culture.
