What you will do

Broad Purpose / Function:

  • Ensure GMP, EHS and Quality requirements are met in the area of responsibility.

  • Ensure equipment reliability by implementing and executing proper Good Engineering Practices (GEP)in order to support the delivery of the Production Plan and operational efficiency.

  • Actively participates in the identification and implementation of continuous improvements initiatives. Ensure wastages are minimized and packaging costs contained or improved.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Ensures GMP, EHS and Quality compliance during the execution of maintenance activities and all related tasks. Ensures compliance with work instructions according to the relevant SOP’s.

  • Contributes to the reduction of NCs (Non-Conformances), deviations and complaints. Participates in root cause analysis, countermeasures identification and implementation of CAPAs.

  • Record all maintenance activities on MAXIMO and ensure closure of all outstanding work orders.

  • Assist with the update or creation of new SOPs and new work instructions as required.

  • Provide equipment operational training to staff on the appropriate SOP’s, WI’s and any other procedures that may affect compliance and performance of equipment.

  • Lead, support and drive continuous improvement and OEE initiatives.

  • Execute planned preventative maintenance according to the schedule and perform maintenance tasks on production equipment and services in the event of a breakdown.

  • Support Site Acceptance Tests, installation, operational and performance qualification of new equipment as required.

  • Provide operational support to meet Production Plan requirements.

  • Review and update all planned maintenance schedules to ensure effective maintenance practice.

  • Identify and maintain critical spare parts of equipment.

  • Ensure that the settings of equipment are correct and in line with all the relevant SOP’s and set-up checklist.

  • Maintain the quality and condition of tooling and all equipment change parts.

  • Maintain record of all tool measurements as per GMP requirements.

  • Good Engineering Practice should be at the core of all maintenance activities.

  • Provide back-up assistance to equipment operators in the event of absenteeism or lack of required skill to continue normal operation.

  • Maintain good housekeeping in your area of responsibility by practicing 5S.

  • Complete required PTW for all non-routine work in your department and as per allocated schedules.

Qualifications / Experience / Requirements:

  • Qualified Fitter & Turner / Millwright (Artisan qualification) with completed apprenticeship.

  • 2 years’ experience in manufacturing/ packaging environment.

  • Experience with Tablet tooling management could be advantageous.

  • 3 years’ experience in operation and maintenance of plant machines and services.

  • PLC knowledge could be advantageous.

  • Good technical aptitude – be able to fault find and repair minor breakdowns.

  • Ability to follow clear instructions e.g. follow a planned maintenance procedure.

  • Must be systematic, neat, methodical and have attention to detail.

  • Knowledge in metrology could be advantageous.

  • Must be able to work under pressure.

  • Must be customer focused.

  • Good people skills and ability to work in teams.

  • Must be available for rotational shift work and overtime if required.

  • Previous exposure to the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

  • Encourages input from the team on decision – collaboration.

  • User knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Computer literacy required.
