What you will do

The Principal Scientist, R&D is responsible for delivering against the Skin & Hair innovation pipeline and serving as the technical lead in base business (marketed product) support.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will lead global projects for Skin Health Upstream R&D and will be directly responsible for new concept and technology development, including analyzing new science and consumer insights to help build a strategic innovation pipeline aligned with global brand needs.

  • The Principal Scientist will be accountable for the design and execution of multiple projects concurrently.

  • The Principal Scientist will work internally and externally to identify benefit territories linked to biological targets and technologies to provide hair/scalp/skin benefits

  • He/she will collaborate to develop in-vitro and ex vivo models and assays to assess functional effects of technologies to predict clinical performance

  • The Principal Scientist will evaluate biochemical mechanisms to understand mechanisms of action for key technologies

  • He/she will work closely in a team environment, as well as independently to acquire data, analyze and interpret results

  • He/she will review external literature, data sources and intellectual property to stay current and assess competitive threats

  • The Principal Scientist may draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts, technical reports and communications and patent fillings as appropriate

  • The role requires extensive cross functional partnerships and collaboration. A strong scientific background together with strong analytical and communication skills of research findings are a must have prerequisites.

Required Qualifications

  • The candidate must be eligible to work in the US.

  • Master’s Degree in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related life science discipline with 4-6 years of related experience or strongly preferred Ph.D. with a background in Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a related life science discipline; Experience in Hair/Scalp upstream innovation preferred.

  • Solid working knowledge in current biology/biochemistry pathways and techniques including expertise in skin/hair biology

  • Research experience in skin/hair biology including experience working with preclinical models/data

  • It is required that the candidate be self-motivated, productive and has excellent communication, leadership and scientific problems solving skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge in Hair/Scalp, longevity science and ingredient technologies

  • The candidate must possess an ability to lead projects, acquire, analyze, interpret, and organize data, write and document research experiments and protocols.

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$127,075.00 - $179,400.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
