What you will do

The Principal Scientist, Sustainability & Resiliency provides technical, analytical, and integration support across climate, nature, water & wastewater, and waste. This role plays a key part in advancing Kenvue’s Healthy Lives Mission – Healthy Planet commitments by connecting environmental insights, assessments, and analytics into practical frameworks, readiness tools, and performance improvement opportunities. The role works closely with EHS, Operations, and Procurement to support integrated environmental strategy and risk management development and operational readiness across the Source–Make–Deliver value stream.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of integrated environmental sustainability and risk management strategy across climate, nature, water & wastewater, and waste.

  • Translate strategy into prioritization frameworks, readiness criteria, and planning guidance for functional partners.

  • Contribute to cross‑functional roadmaps and capability‑building plans.

  • Develop KPIs and performance indicators to support enterprise-wide tracking and decision-making.

  • Assess environmental sustainability risks and collaborate with functional teams on mitigation pathways.

  • Partner with Enterprise Risk to incorporate environmental sustainability into governance processes.

  • Prepare technical and analytical materials for governance forums and leadership reviews.

  • Maintain governance calendars, decision logs, and integrated risk visibility tools.

  • Support improvements in external ratings and disclosures (e.g., CDP) through best‑practice analytics.

  • Collaborate with EHS, Operations, and Procurement to ensure accurate environmental data and insights.

  • Translate performance trends into recommendations for capability-building and continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate dialogues with cross-functional teams to surface risks and opportunities.

  • Support disclosures by validating metrics and preparing narrative insights.

  • Serve as a technical advisor, supporting consistency in standards, tools, and approaches.

  • Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, partnerships, and best practices, translating them into actionable recommendations.

 

What we're looking for

Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in environmental sustainability, environmental engineering, EHS, operations, or related fields.

  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to translate environmental data into insights and practical recommendations.

  • Knowledge of sustainability risk and disclosure frameworks (e.g., TCFD, TNFD, WRI Aqueduct, CDP).

  • Experience supporting climate and nature adaptation, water stewardship, circularity, and/or waste reduction efforts.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner effectively across technical and non-technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preparing materials for governance bodies, senior leadership reviews, or cross-functional committees.

  • Familiarity with developing or applying readiness frameworks, prioritization tools, or capability-building materials.

  • Experience with environmental performance analytics, dashboards, or data management systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, or related field preferred; equivalent technical experience considered.

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$127,075.00 - $179,400.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
