What you will do

The Sr. Customer Development Manager of Ulta Beauty is accountable to execute strategies and develop sales tactics that align with our Kenvue Skin Health brand objectives across facial skin, body care, sun care and hair care. This team member will collaborate with both internal and external partners to create mutually profitable business plans that can be feasibly executed for iconic brands such as Neutrogena, Aveeno, OGX and Exuviance. This person will have exciting and broad responsibility on a growth-oriented skincare portfolio, focused on innovating, incubating, and delivering exceptional experience for the skin care shopper at an industry-leading retailer who focuses on both Mass and Prestige beauty categories with their guests.  This people leadership role includes the development and oversight for the Customer and Field Team Members that directly support Ulta Beauty.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

This role will focus on achieving shipment and consumption goals by managing the relationship with Ulta Beauty across our mass & skincare and mass haircare brands.  The Sr. Customer Development Manager leads the efforts to fulfill the needs of the customer and company, while also leading/influencing internal and external strategy.  This role develops and leads the execution of business plans to achieve sales goals for Ulta Beauty that include 4P fundamentals (product, placement, promotion, and pricing) and new item execution and strategic initiatives, such as co-creation/incubation, and elevated beauty experiences.  In this role, you would serve as the key sales point of contact for information and action, serving as the “voice of customer” within the company, as well. You will also participate in special projects as assigned by the supervisor that are aligned with key brand/portfolio strategic objectives.

  • Maintain regular and frequent contact with business partners to enhance implementation of business plans and initiatives

  • Collaborates with finance, supply chain, brand, legal, and other squad members to align efforts and tactics with customer(s).

  • Create, maintain, and leverage relationships with senior-level decision makers, internally and externally

  • Lead the development and implementation of targeted business plans, including the 4P’s at the customer. Executes new product launches and provides promotional materials appropriate for Ulta Beauty.

  • Achieves forecast accuracy by working with supply chain and finance partners, and seeks to resolve all logistical issues and challenges.

  • Understand, penetrate, and leverage resources, such as sales agencies

  • Evaluate and negotiate agreements against objectives

  • Coach, develop, and evaluate direct and/or indirect reports

  • Monitor and report on external and internal achievement of plans

  • Perform regular in-market visits to audit and ensure team member and account compliance for objectives

  • Analyze the geography and account mix to determine fund allocation

  • Manages trade and SG&A budget for assigned area including forecasting, returns, displays and other promotional efforts.

  • Gain alignment of resources across a complex matrix environment to achieve goals

  • Influence the actions of others where there is not often direct authority

  • Facilitates category analysis to monitor market and brand performance

  • Comply with company policies and procedures at all times and policies

  • Is aware of all the relevant business processes and requirements related to pricing, trade promotions, and inventory management.

 

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree or the equivalent required, MBA preferred

  • A minimum of 8 years business experience

  • A minimum of 5 years prior consumer/CGP and commercial related (sales/marketing) experience required.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working directly with specialty beauty retailer merchants (Ulta Beauty Merchant experience highly preferred).

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience planning and executing brand showcase models in retail store and at beauty tradeshows required.

  • Experience leading large, scaled retail field sales teams required.

  • Experience working with skincare/beauty equities required.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex business data is required.

  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively is required.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong business relationships is required.

  • Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, complex matrix environment is required.

  • This position will require up to 25% travel depending on home location.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad experience across sales strategy, brand management, insights/analytics, trade, and/or category roles is preferred.

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$152,150.00 - $214,800.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
