What you will do

Role Overview

The Senior Manager – Architect is accountable for defining and governing the enterprise architecture, security, and delivery outcomes for data, analytics, IoT, AI, and Decision Intelligence platforms. This role combines architecture strategy, security and access governance, delivery accountability, and people leadership, with a strong focus on data modeling, data engineering, data migration, and secure platform operations.

The role owns the Decision Intelligence architecture as a control plane, ensuring secure access, policy-driven execution, and trusted decision intelligence across Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial domains.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture Strategy, Governance & Control‑Plane Ownership

  • Own the architecture vision, principles, and roadmap for enterprise data, AI, IoT, and Decision Intelligence platforms.

  • Define and govern target‑state and transition architectures, ensuring alignment with business strategy and enterprise standards.

  • Establish reference architectures and guardrails for scalable, secure, and modular platform delivery.

  • Act as the final architectural authority for cross‑program design decisions.

Decision Intelligence Architecture & Platform Accountability

  • Own the Command Centre architecture as an enterprise control plane for decision intelligence, orchestration, and operational visibility.

  • Define architectural patterns for data ingestion, semantic modelling, decision logic, agentic workflows, and downstream execution.

  • Ensure the Command Centre integrates securely with execution systems, data platforms, ML services, and external applications.

  • Drive architectural consistency across Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial Command Centre use cases.

  • Ensure the platform is modular, extensible, and governed, enabling rapid onboarding of new use cases without compromising security or stability.

Delivery Accountability – Data Modelling & Data Engineering

  • Own end‑to‑end delivery accountability for enterprise data modeling and data engineering outcomes.

  • Ensure logical, physical, and analytical data models are delivered on time, reusable, scalable, and aligned to business capabilities.

  • Oversee delivery of data engineering pipelines (batch, streaming, real‑time) with accountability for quality, performance, reliability, and SLAs.

  • Ensure strong alignment between data models, pipelines, analytics, and ML workloads to enable trusted downstream consumption.

  • Drive data quality, lineage, reconciliation, and observability as mandatory delivery outcomes.

  • Ensure all data assets meet production readiness standards, including testing, validation, monitoring, and operational handover.

Enterprise Data Migration & Modernization (Must‑Have)

  • Lead and be accountable for large‑scale data migration programs, including on‑prem to cloud and legacy platform modernization.

  • Define migration strategies (re‑host, re‑platform, re‑architect) and oversee source‑to‑target mapping, transformation, validation, and cutover.

  • Ensure data correctness, usability, and regulatory compliance before business sign‑off.

  • Drive phased migrations, parallel runs, and decommissioning to minimize operational risk.

Access Management, Security & Trust Architecture

  • Own access management architecture across data, Decision Intelligence, analytics, and AI platforms.

  • Define and enforce role‑based, attribute‑based, and policy‑driven access models aligned to enterprise security standards.

  • Ensure least‑privilege access, segregation of duties, and secure data consumption across personas and domains.

  • Partner with security teams to ensure compliance with identity, data security, privacy, and audit requirements.

  • Embed security‑by‑design into architecture, including encryption, network controls, secure integrations, and logging.

  • Ensure Command Centre and data platforms provide trusted, governed access to insights and actions.

MLOps, DevOps & Secure Engineering Excellence

  • Define and drive enterprise MLOps strategy, enabling secure and scalable ML lifecycle management.

  • Oversee standards for model deployment, monitoring, retraining, explainability, and governance.

  • Champion DevOps and platform engineering practices across data, ML, and Command Centre workloads.

  • Ensure strong adoption of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automation, monitoring, and operational resilience.

  • Drive secure environment management across dev, test, and production.

Stakeholder Leadership & Execution Management

  • Act as a senior technology and architecture advisor to business, product, and IT leadership.

  • Translate business priorities into architecture‑led execution plans with clear ownership and measurable outcomes.

  • Partner with delivery leaders to ensure architecture intent is realized in execution, not diluted in delivery.

  • Proactively manage risks related to data scale, access, security, performance, and compliance.

People Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and develop solution architects, data architects, and senior technical leads.

  • Set clear expectations and KPIs for architecture quality, data engineering delivery, security posture, and platform reliability.

  • Mentor leaders to operate at platform and enterprise scale, not siloed solutions.

  • Build a culture of accountability, trust, engineering excellence, and disciplined delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

Must‑Have

  • 12+ years of enterprise technology experience with strong background in architecture leadership, data platforms, security, and large‑scale delivery ownership

  • Proven accountability for delivery of enterprise‑scale data modelling and data engineering programs.

  • Demonstrated leadership of large‑scale data migration initiatives.

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure and cloud‑native architectures.

  • Deep understanding of Databricks, Lakehouse architectures, and modern data engineering.

  • Experience owning Command Centre or control‑plane style platforms (decision intelligence, orchestration, monitoring).

  • Strong experience with access management, security architecture, and data governance.

  • Working knowledge of MLOps, DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code at enterprise scale.

Leadership & Behavioural Skills

  • Strong people management experience leading senior technical teams.

  • Executive‑level communication and stakeholder influence skills.

  • Ability to balance strategy, governance, and delivery accountability.

  • Comfortable owning outcomes, trust, and platform integrity.
