What you will do
The R&D Senior Scientist is responsible for supporting the implementation of formula and enable product experiences that drive consumer delight across a range of personal care brands. You will have the opportunity to showcase your capability across a wide portfolio of well-known brands including Aveeno®, Neutrogena®, OGX®, Clean & Clear®.
Your primary responsibility is to deploy product innovation – combining consumer insights with formulation recommendation to assemble products that consumers love. Delivering high quality, safe, sustainable, scientifically backed & efficacious products with exceptional consumer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Work with the relevant teams to understand the market, consumer insights and project needs. Turn those insights into a learning plan to adapt formulations and/or claims/demo development that meet a specific set of criteria.
Building strong brand franchise capability, upskilling junior team members across the organization on these capabilities.
Working hand in hand with R&D cross functional teams, marketing and supply chain to drive our innovation pipelines for Asia Pacific markets
Partner with internal teams to create impactful scientific communication and claims
Partner with relevant teams to address consumer, external queries on product and formulation, identifying opportunities for improvisation and communication changes
Partner with prototype evaluation teams for the technical evaluation of lead formulation options.
Understanding impact of ingredient & formula design on product performance (e.g. stability, rheology) and experience (e.g. sensory) and being able to adapt to meet required criteria.
Support Root Cause Analysis to address problems that may occur at any stage of the development process, from lab scale, through pilot, production scale or after launch.
Working as part of a multi-functional team and managing your own workplan and run experimental programs independently.
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
Experience working in consumer goods sector – personal care, homecare or foods; pharmaceuticals also considered.
Proven experience in product development with knowledge in formulation.
Having strong end-to-end experience from concept, claim communication to formulation and launch go-to-market implementation.
Being able to build strong interdependent partnerships internally in R&D and to broader cross-functional teams.
As the role requires working with teams across Asia, you will need to have strong English skills.
Desired Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's or Master's degree with 4-5 years of proven experience is required, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering degrees preferred.
Additional experience across other areas in R&D such as claims, packaging & consumer research.
