What you will do
Kenvue has products in beauty, baby, oral care, topical healthcare, personal hygiene and OTC franchises. Toxicology Resource Centre is engaged in the conduct of safety assessment of ingredients and products.
This position entails conducting toxicology risk assessments for ingredients, finished products, impurities, and degradants, as well as evaluating topical skin safety for consumer products through data research and interpretation. It does not involve any laboratory work. Additionally, the role requires monitoring studies at Contract Research Organizations (CROs). Candidates should possess qualifications in Toxicology or Clinical Safety, along with experience in conducting in vitro or in vivo toxicology studies and/or skin tolerance studies, as well as risk assessment and medical writing skills. Responsibilities also include coordinating with third-party contractors, reviewing activities and assessments, mentoring junior scientists, and representing the team in technical and strategic discussions. Strong communication skills are essential for successful job performance.
Job Responsibilities:
Literature search and scientific data collection for preparation of hazard assessment report of the cosmetic ingredients
Assessment of ingredients/raw materials/formulae at different stages of product development in skin care, essential health franchise
Preparation of APR statements/Tox clearance statements and other relevant documents such as CPSRs, CCDS to support regional regulatory requirements as and when required
Safety assessment of fragrances and flavors used in consumer products
Preparation/Updating of INCI tox profiles
The Principal Scientist (Toxicology/Clinical Safety) represents toxicology/safety in essential health and/or skin care franchise project teams and works with cross-functional business partners, PD team, RMC, the formulators, and suppliers etc. on a regular basis for obtaining more details regarding RMs, fragrances, formulas etc. to establish their pre-clinical safety strategies and perform their timely safety assessments in support of project timelines.
Review of Assessment reports prepared by other Scientists and their approvals
Representing AP tox team to attend global strategic discussion meeting on clinical safety
Representing AP tox team to attend TRC discussion meeting.
Mentoring junior scientist
What we are looking for
Master’s degree/ Ph.D. in toxicology, pharmacology or relevant science discipline.
>3 years of experience in the field of consumer product risk assessment or other relevant Toxicology and/or Clinical safety (skin tolerance) experience.
Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) certification, Diploma in clinical sciences preferred.
In silico predictions
Good verbal and written communication skill in English is a must.
Individual with strong interpersonal skills and able to work independently
Desirable: Knowledge of regulatory requirements for product safety submissions and experience in medical writing.
