Job Summary
The Process Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of technical and process plans that support production and new product implementation. This includes fostering a culture of continuous improvement, optimizing machine efficiency, reducing waste, driving system/process improvements, and enhancing problem-solving capabilities for shop floor personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement plans to support both production and new product introductions, focusing on machine and process improvements.
Lead the development and optimization of machine efficiency, changeover processes, and waste reduction strategies.
Spearhead continuous improvement projects aimed at key production performance indicators, including productivity, safety, quality, reliability, and cost.
Collaborate with internal and external departments to ensure timely completion of new projects and achievement of project goals.
Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, identifying improvement opportunities and working with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
Ensure machines are commissioned to meet process requirements and product specifications.
Work closely with the production team, Technical Operations, and Quality Assurance teams to create and implement process instructions (e.g., master batch records, SOPs, work instructions).
Initiate or revise protocols and operating instructions specific to projects.
Monitor and analyze performance metrics (OEE, OPE, cycle time, yield, and scrap rate) to ensure production targets are met.
Identify and implement process control measures to ensure consistent quality and reduce process variation.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process issues and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Collaborate with Technical Operations during process development trials and validation activities.
Participate with cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
Provide training and guidance to the production team on new processes, procedures, and equipment to ensure effective implementation.
Stay current with the latest advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
Coach and mentor other engineers in problem-solving and project-specific solutions.
Lead and provide coaching to the operations team to foster continuous growth and development.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or engineering (Chemical, Mechatronics, Mechanical)
3+ years of experience as a Process Engineer in a pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and statistical analysis
Proficiency in process analysis, statistical analysis, and simulation software (preferable)
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve process-related issues
Working knowledge of process safety, risk assessment, and compliance with regulatory standards
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines
Experience with production/packaging machines, automation (preferred), and solid/liquid process technology
Operations experience within a cGMP environment in the pharmaceutical industry
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong technical writing skills in English
Willingness to work weekends when required
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality for OTC pharmaceutical products
Project management experience or certification (preferred)
