Initiates the timely and economical purchase of goods and services with regard for quality and delivery. Ensures compliance with purchasing policies and procedures and promotes good purchasing behavior. Plans and prepares formal bid packages for supplies maintained in inventory. Evaluates formal bids received from suppliers and makes recommendations of award. Negotiates nonstandard contracts for purchases. Researches and analyzes possible sources/suppliers for requested items, provides alternatives or substitutions, when applicable and provides an overview of options to internal customers. Troubleshoots discrepancies pertaining to purchase orders, requisitions, supplier deliveries, prices and quality. Analyzes market trends and availability of designated procurement commodities. Prepares and issues reports as necessary to keep internal customers informed of critical trends or concerns taking place.
