Sr. Project Engineer (Facilities Specialist)
This position reports into the Guelph Site Tech Ops Engineering Lead and is based at Guelph, Ontario.
This is a 2-year contract.

Role reports to: Guelph Site Tech Ops Engineering Lead
Location: Guelph, Ontario
Travel %: 5–10% (Domestic and International)
What you will do
As a Sr. Project Engineer (Facilities Specialist), you will lead and approve the design, installation, and qualification of new or modified facilities, utilities, and equipment for the Guelph manufacturing site. You will also provide base business support and drive compliance and continuous improvement across engineering processes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end ownership of facilities and manufacturing equipment upgrades and replacements, including business case development, RFQ generation, vendor and equipment selection, funding approval, purchase, contractor management, installation, commissioning, qualification, and handover
Support base business activities related to troubleshooting, CAPA, safety initiatives, and existing facility and utility systems
Create and maintain change controls, PO requisitions, and technical documentation
Participate in GMP and training initiatives to maintain compliance
Act as a mentor and coach for other engineers and support onboarding of new team members
Engage with cross-functional internal teams and external contractors, vendors, and safety authorities
What we are looking for
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in engineering, technical, and/or operations roles
Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment and packaging systems
Expertise in facilities systems, utilities (e.g., USP water, HVAC, chillers), and building automation systems
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and deliver on time and within budget
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and project-related documentation systems
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Desired Qualifications
Experience with GMPs, validation strategies, and quality improvement processes
Familiarity with automation and control systems
Experience with facility construction projects
AutoCAD proficiency
