This position reports into R&D Deployment Senior Manager, and is based at Santa Palomba Pomezia, RM.

What you will do

The Research & Development Scientist Essential Health (Baby and Fem Care) will take part in projects linking the product, formula and processing activities to brand strategy, targets, and problem resolution methods with demonstrated rigor and deep organizational knowledge whilst embedding sustainability into all actions.

The R&D Scientist is responsible for planning and conducting moderately complex  experiments, analyzing results, and providing solutions to problems of moderate complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in technical projects work, including formulation, product and scale-up activities and analysis with hands-on involvement
  • Participate in cross-functional project team discussions defining and coordinating deliverables (e.g.: R&D, Business and Supply Chain) and to define project resources
  • Connection with end-to-end R&D functions defining the execution pathway and ensuring deliverables remain on track
  • Coordinate day-to-day interaction with global Hubs and/or external development partnerships like suppliers and institutes (as needed)
  • Operate with technical direction, participating in in pipeline activities
  • Planning and executing moderately complex experiments and methodology development
  • Optimize formulated ingredients, nonwovens and films to meet cost objectives and to manage availability of raw materials
  • Analyze data and interpret results to contribute to the development of new products
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all research activities
  • Creating detailed scientific drawings and diagrams
  • Presenting research findings at internal and external meetings
  • Developing and updating protocols, test methods, and standard operating procedures
  • Draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts, technical reports
  • Expertise in the use of internal digital tools and data documentation systems
  • Follow standards and quality, medical and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor equipment operations and maintain cleanliness in the laboratory (according to projects and activities needs)
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements for  potential applications on our brands and products
  • Develop a technical expertise in product design, formulation, chemical science, fiber and nonwovens technology

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or Equivalent in a related field (Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Chemistry, Formulation Science and Technology)
  • 2 years of experience in scientific research and development
  • Experience working in a regulated lab environment
  • Proficiency in cGMPs, statistical analysis, and data documentation systems
  • Technical expertise
  • Project management skills
  • Fluent written and oral English communication skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience and understanding of formulated/cosmetic and or fiber/nonwovens products
  • Experience in FMCG companies
  • Strong statistical analysis skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and problem-solve effectively
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams
  • Passion for innovation and driving scientific progress
  • Prior experience in product development and pilot scale equipment setup
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Ability to influence others and drive results
