What you will do

The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing strategic and operational legal advice and counsel in all areas of law, to support Kenvue’s business in India and help them achieve their goals, while protecting company’s rights, interests and reputation. The Senior Legal Counsel will work on drafting various contracts, artwork review, product claims, assistance in intellectual property issues including trademark infringement cases, consumer complaints, regulatory laws including legal metrology, drugs and cosmetics laws, food standards and safety laws, labour laws, environmental laws etc. and general litigation matters. Responsibilities also include providing legal advice to Kenvue’ s GCC in Bengaluru, under a separate legal entity Kenvue Solutions India Pvt. Ltd (KSIPL).

This role requires a team-oriented, solutions-focused, and agile business partner who will work with a handson approach to address legal issues.

The Senior Legal Counsel is a senior business lawyer for JNTL, reporting to Head of Legal- India, Indonesia and Philippines. The Senior Legal Counsel has a team member, a Legal Counsel reporting into him/her.

Key Accountabilities

• As a solid business partner, Senior Legal Counsel actively participates in discussions and decisions, and proactively provide legal counsel and value-added support to all business functions of JNTL ( and KSIPL) including iconic brands like Stayfree, ORSL, Neutrogena, Aveeno, Benadryl, Listerine, Johnson’s Baby etc.

• Possess communication and other skills to be able to positively influence the key stakeholders to make well considered decisions and achieve compliant growth.

• Provide sound guidance on and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations applicable to the operations of JNTL (and KSIPL), challenge the status quo, connect with relevant stakeholders, and deliver outcomes satisfactory to stakeholders in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with business partners, regulatory function, R&D, Qualilty, Sales & Marketing, Ethics & Compliance function to reinforce decision making in every critical business decision in lines with Kenvue’s Code of Business Conduct. Engage with outside counsel for general litigation matters and ensure that all matters are diligently handled.

What we are looking for

• LLB or equivalent law degree from a nationally recognized university.

• License to practice law either in India or another jurisdiction preferred.

• At least 10-12 years of relevant legal experience post qualification (a mix of law firm and in-house experience is preferred).

• Preferably experienced in working with multinational corporations (MNC), and with colleagues in other markets in APAC and USA.

• Strong business partnering skills, with a proven ability to proactively engage with the business to find practical solutions and partner with them to implement desired actions.

• Business Oriented - ability to proactively engage with business to find practical solutions and partner with them to implement desired actions and create compliant growth for the business.

• Comfortable working as part of a team and keen to interact with diverse group of people spanning a broad range of business teams and executives within our client organizations.

• Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and a comprehensive understanding of the consumer goods industry.

• Ability to manage conflicts in an open and constructive manner.

• Able to set an example and ensure high ethical, legal and compliance standards at Kenvue India and be proactive in engaging organization to identify opportunities to enhance ethics and anti-corruption practices and procedures.

• Strong ability to deal with ambiguity and simplify issues for clients.

• Ability to work innovatively and proactively to support clients.
