Trade Operations Lead (PG: 30-31)

Job Purpose

The Trade Operations Lead is responsible for providing operational governance and execution oversight of compliant cross-border trade activities, supporting the consistent, efficient, and compliant movement of materials across international borders. The role ensures effective execution and continuous improvement of trade operations across all international material movements, from material availability at origin through physical receipt at destination, in alignment with applicable trade regulations and internal compliance policies.

Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities

  • Provide operational governance and execution oversight of compliant cross-border trade activities to support uninterrupted business operations
  • Oversee end-to-end trade execution for all international material movements, including raw materials (RM), packaging materials (PM), NPD/NPI materials, finished goods (FG), commercial and non-commercial samples, capital equipment, and other dutiable or non-dutiable materials
  • Ensure trade execution activities comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and internal trade compliance policies, covering import, export, and transit processes
  • Oversee customs clearance execution, including documentation accuracy, logistics hand-offs, and exception management to ensure timely and compliant material flows
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of trade service providers, including 3PLs, customs brokers, and export warehouse vendors, ensuring service performance, cost efficiency, and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Compliance, Logistics) to resolve execution issues and align trade operations with business needs
  • Identify, escalate, and support resolution of trade execution risks, compliance deviations, and service provider performance issues in line with established governance frameworks
  • Support the implementation of standardized trade processes, controls, and systems, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across trade operations

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Provide functional guidance and day-to-day direction to trade operations resources, as applicable
  • Support capability building and knowledge transfer related to trade execution and compliance
  • Foster a culture of compliance, operational discipline, and continuous improvement

Budget & Financial Accountability

  • Support management of trade operations-related spend, including logistics and trade service provider costs
  • Contribute to cost efficiency initiatives through effective execution, issue resolution, and service provider performance management

Stakeholder & External Interface

  • Internal: Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Compliance, Logistics, IT
  • External: 3PLs, customs brokers, export warehouse vendors, freight forwarders, and relevant regulatory authorities (as required)

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree/Post Graduate in supply chain, Logistics, International Trade, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in trade operations, customs, or international logistics, with exposure to import, export, and transit activities
  • Working knowledge of international trade regulations, customs processes, and trade compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting cross-border movements of materials or finished goods Experience working with trade service providers, such as 3PLs and customs brokers
  • Experience using ERP and trade-related systems

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Strong understanding of customs clearance, documentation, and logistics execution
  • Experience managing trade execution exceptions and issue resolution Exposure to continuous improvement or process standardization initiatives Experience operating in a multinational or FMCG environment
  • Strong stakeholder coordination and problem-solving skills
