What you will do

The Microbiologist II - Reviewer is responsible for reviewing the microbiological quality of water, raw materials, packaging components, bulk work in process, and finished products. This role involves cross-training on various review types, performing the release of raw materials through LIMS lot acceptance and ERP usage decisions, and reviewing documentation and testing records related to cleaning validation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review microbiological quality of water, raw materials, packaging components, bulk work in process, and finished products.
  • Oversee the review of media produced in the Microbiology laboratory, Environmental Monitoring tests, and production/lab water testing.
  • Perform release of raw materials via LIMS lot acceptance and ERP usage decisions to Operations.
  • Review documentation and testing records related to cleaning validation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal specifications, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Collaborate with business partners to support investigations of quality events.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance laboratory processes.
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and update quality documentation as necessary.
  • Take ownership of Change Controls, instrument qualification, and audit remediation follow-ups.
  • Act as a Qualified Trainer for junior staff and support their development.
  • Serve as the site A/RPIC (Alternate Responsible Person in Charge) as needed.
  • Function as the Microbiology Supervisor Designate in the absence of the supervisor.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience in a Quality or R&D environment in the pharmaceutical, food or water industries. 
  • Good interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Good technical writing, verbal communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting deadlines.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Process Excellence/Lean an asset.
  • Experience with Analytical Laboratory equipment and methods is an asset
  • Proficient in the use of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience in training or mentoring junior staff is highly desirable.

What’s in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:$61,000.00 - $97,175.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
